LizRyan Presents Jade By Nikolai
Nikolai Tsang’s passionate regard for the mysterious green stone was born of her father’s love of fine jade. A jeweler descended from a family of jewelers, he encouraged her to use it as her palette and express her dreams and desires in its intricate carvings. Early in her design career, Nikolai mastered the material and the method of its transformation into art, integrating its colors, hues, and tones with her own highly imaginative conceptions. To advance further in her art, she studied at Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Several years later, she established Jade by Nikolai and began to design and oversee the creation of this exquisite handmade jewelry in Honolulu and Hong Kong.
Jade by Nikolai is distinguished by the use of all nine colors of Burmese jadeite. Each jade piece is gathered on a silken cord – sometimes accented by the addition of precious and semi-precious stones. Necklaces are varied, unique, and luxurious. Rings and earrings suggest depths of personality and an almost mystical belief in perfection – consistent with this ancient stone. Each piece of Jade by Nikolai observes a tradition of five millennia. The sign or pictograph for jade itself originated in China, in 2950 BC.
For the Chinese, jade is a terrestrial bridge between heaven and hell. It possesses an aura of eternity and becomes, in the hands of skilled artisans, an object of enduring beauty and mystery.
Nikolai allows her lavish – often extravagantly beautiful – designs to be shown for purchase in America only at jewelers whose clients – like her own – are connoisseurs of fine-art jewelry. LizRyan is one of the few in the region to prove itself worthy.
